Has anything changed at Grand Mayan in regards to shuttles to and from the ENTRANCE to Grand Mayan? Last time we were at Grand Mayan, we had to WALK from where the taxi let us off, to GM resort and there were NO shuttles to and from Grand Mayan at all. Very difficult for older people! So last time we went to Nuevo, in the fall 2016, we booked at the Sea Gardens. Loved the resort and the convenience of being able to get around. But we miss our Grand Mayan but hesitate to book there in fall 2017 because of the difficulty in getting around, so we may book at Sea Garden again unless things have changed at GM??? Any changes there since winter 2016?

I am at GM Nuevo now. The shuttle now stops at the GM. I'd ask to be in the Muyil bldg as if you are in Copan, like we were last week, it is a hike. Shuttles are pretty often and convenient. You still cannot leave the property easily. We have been taking lots of taxis. The only way to get to the Nuevo marina and restaurants is taxi or walking down beach to Sea Garden and escaping that way. It is terrible that they have shut down the exit. Must be hurting lots of local business. In two weeks here, have spent a lot of money on property but the only reason I come to this area of Mexico is to experience PV and the real Mexico. All of the new building and restrictions are not an improvement imho.

Hi Linda74 ,
Why not book the SEA GARDEN NV next time as ZIB did . The staff and management are full Vidanta quality with daily cleaning and towels etc. The pool is an easy walk from the elevator and the beach is close .

Last visit we took the collectivo up to San Juan des Abajo- which has a beautiful classic Mexican church . It was Sunday morning and a multi ( 8+) baptism ceremony was happening . We witness the end of it and enjoyed seeing happy families . After some real local shopping we travelled back the same way and were at the pool mid afternoon . ( Colectivos and busses stop near the OXXO that is less than 100 yards from the Sea Gardens NV front entrance driveway .)

The Mayan Palace PV - Marina location is also a good home base if you like to go " off resort " via the local PV bus system . ( Raintree Club Regina is also non AI - and is next door to MP in the PV Marina ) .
.

Thank you have done Rain Tree at Marina and MP in the marina. Also did Garza Blanca south of PV. Used to love Nuevo, but then we rented a car. It is more Disney than Mexico now. Am sure many love that. I think that I may look at Renting a nice condo downtown next time. I don't require all the "resort" amenities.

There are lots of condos on VRBO in the Old Town area. We have thought of doing that for a few days or even a week sometime. When we take our "kids" we stick with glam and resort amenities, when it is just us, we try new places whether timeshare or VRBO rentals.

Linda, can you give an update about what the construction situation is at the NV property right now? We'll be headed back there in the end of March and I'm curious!
Thanks

The only construction we witnessed was occurring closer to the entrance away from GM. Believe they are getting ready for their Cirque de Soleil amusement park. They may also be building some Grand Luxxe units further back from the beach. It really will be the Disneyworld of Mexico.
