I pick up coins, also! LOL! I collect pennies- ones minted before 1981 (copper) go in one jar along with nickels (for their metal) and the other pennies go into another jar. The other change I use as needed.
A book of stamps has been 20 for as long as I recall, though that would only be the last 16 years as I wasn't even living in the US before then.
I certainly am not rushing out to buy any stamps. for 20 stamps, a 2 cent increase works out to be 40 cents. More trouble to go out of my way just to save the 40 cents. I currently have almost an entire book of stamps that were bought a year ago when the price was actually $0.49.
