I love it when a plan comes together (in spite of II)

So we own week 49 at the Ren in Aruba. Wife is retiring at the end of this school year, so 2016 will be the first year we'll be able to use our week instead of switching weeks to spring break.

Put in a request this past summer for week 50 in Aruba so we could make it a 2 week trip. Had been checking II just in case we decided to go to another island instead of staying in Aruba and this morning (while sitting on the balcony at the Divi in Aruba) and saw a 1 BR unit available at La Cabana the week we wanted. Puzzled because La Cabana was one of the resorts we put down for our request. Grabbed it and as a result, in spite of II's screw up, will be spending 2 weeks in Aruba next December.

Nice!, I find that checking on your own works well, they II would probably call you, but you saw it before they did. Enjoy !

Leaving Thursday night for the hotel for the Friday morning flight. Have scheduled appointments with 4 realtors to see about 40 properties in our search for our vacation home. Can't wait!!

Checked in yesterday at La Cabana for week number 2. First time here, nice resort...except for being woken up at 5 am by the "this is a test of our emergency announcement system". Very bizarre. Having a great time; biggest problem is deciding where to go for dinner with so many good options....

Narrowed the search down to 4 properties, and are meeting with the realtor again on Monday to take a second look at one and put in an offer.

Will post review of La Cabana later.

Done deal; got the condo we wanted for the price we wanted.

The mis fortunes of the Venezuelan economy worked in our favor. Got a 2 BR 2 BA condo at Oceania really cheap since the owners needed to sell.
