Are you going to Mexico to meet a lawyer? US Law, and US attorneys cannot help you in Mexico.

From what I understand, the maintenance fees are managed by a US company that is subject to US laws. If they are able to enforce a contract here then they are open a lawsuit in the courts here. Attempting to get money back from original purchase would have to be done there. When I send the demand for debt validation to the collection agency they will have 30 days to validate and disclose a US company and address or the debt will become invalid and unenforceable.

No, they want $2500 before they will talk to me or even confirm if such a thing exists.

Its difficult to pursue or express desires when in 2 phone calls and 2 emails they will not not talk to you or discuss your account in any way until you pay.

well unfortunately it sounds like you are a bit too late to even pay and get you out of collections if they have already turned you over to them.
