Has anyone been able to get an exchange to St. Kitts Beach Club during the March or April 2018 timeframe? If so, when did you place the request and what resort/unit size did you exchange?

I have had an exchange request pending for almost three months for any week in February or March 2018, using a platinum week at Canyon Villas, and haven't yet gotten a confirmation. I've been a little surprised.

If you own at St. Kitts and do not plan to use your week at the resort, what do you typically do - elect Vacation Club points, exchange through II, or other?

We own 2 weeks in St Kitts.
If we don't use them for home weeks stays, we always exchange through II and it is the best exchanger we own.
We never, ever elect DC points as the points allocated for our weeks is frankly pitiful.

Congrats! What kind of week did you exchange to get that trade?

Our pending request is for a week between Feb. 1 and March 15, 2018. We have considered expanding it into April, but part of our objective is to escape from Wisconsin for a week when it seems like winter will never end. So, we're holding out for something before mid-March. But, we just added some resorts in Los Cabos, Mexico to increase our chances.

As a footnote to nothing, we escaped Madison winters by moving to Hilton Head. No more -14 degrees for us. I do miss Mdadison summers and the farmers market.

When we lived in Madison, we would go to HHI in March or early April.

On Wisconsin.

I did a deposit first with a silver grand ocean week.

And to the other person who moved to HH full time, we are currently debating that as well; buy now. Retire there in time. How awful are summers with general life? I know the heat, but with all the tourist traffic. Does it negatively impact routine life ?

Thanks for the note, Steve. Madison is a wonderful place in the summer, and we're having a particularly nice one. But, my wife and I are looking forward to retiring to another part of the country -- one with less severe and long winters -- in a couple of years. And, like GreenTea, we are considering South Carolina. In fact, we are heading to Hilton Head in about a week -- we will be at Barony from Aug. 19-26. Can't wait!

On Wisconsin!

When did you deposit, what was the date of your silver Grande Ocean unit, and what size villa did you get at St. Kitts?

I deposited a 2 bedroom and got a 2 bedroom. I deposited it early. I think the week I had booked was 10 at GO

Just out of curiosity, what other TSs do you own? Do you think St Kitts would be a better trader than Marriott Frenchman's Cove or would the be equivalent?

Another question about Marriott St Kitts. How do you like having it as your home club? Is it easy to get reservations? Do they tend to upgrade you to ocean view units? I have been debating whether to purchase St Kitts or Frenchman's Cove. The concern with St Kitts are the length of time and extra costs for transferring the title and it is further and airfare costs more. I am just not sure which location I might enjoy more as a home resort and which would be a better trader. Or if I would enjoy them equally. Any advice?

The Cove is an excellent trader and I suspect St. Kitts would be about the same. But they come with the high maintenance fees associated with island resorts. There are other timeshares that make better traders if that's the main goal.

The units at St. Kitts are among my favorite and I've stayed in many. They are really big and the layout provides good separation between master and guest rooms. The hotel is nice and the beach is large with lots of shade palapas Almost all units at the Cove have ocean view, and I prefer the beach (because of the calm water for swimming. I also prefer the pools at the Cove/hotel over those in St. Kitts.

They will never upgrade you to Ocean View units if you don't own these.
You will always get the view category you own.
Surely this is true at all MVC resorts?
Fairwinds - the good separation between master and guest rooms does depend on the unit type.
We own 2 Bed External, where they are at opposite ends of the unit.
In the 2 Bed Internal unit they are adjacent.
As you say, the units are larger than at many MVC resorts and it is easily our best trader.

Marriott is pretty strict at NON upgrading you based on the view type you own. Some resorts will do so in low season but it's not something to count on and rarely happens without an underlying reasons such as to keep you in the same villa in a back to back.
