Hello all! I've been lurking for the past few days, reading everything I can on purchasing a timeshare for less than retail. My husband and I are interested in HICV, specifically the points program. We have stayed at OL several times over the past 8 years and even used my mother in law's points to take a nice trip to Hawaii via RCI. We would like to get into the points program but can't justify the ridiculous price they want to charge us for the points level we are interested in. I've scoured around here but I have some additional questions:

1. I see that to get points with your re-sale, you have to purchase from one of three resorts, SC, TN, or WI. We are interested in SC, so this isn't an issue. However, how do I know that what I'm purchasing does come with points? It seems like the ads are hit or miss whether they mention it or not.

2. Other than the ads here, where can I look for resale at either the TN or SC location? I only saw a couple ads and everything I try searching for on Ebay comes up as a rental.

3. I see that as of April of this year they have a new way to convert non-points to points if you purchase at least one property from them. Does this mean purchasing several non points properties on resale and rolling them over to points is no longer a smart option?

I'll take any other advice you want to send my way. We love how their program works, we just don't love the price they want us to pay.

Resorts Owned
A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
All deeds from those location come with points. Belonging to HICV is mandatory at those resorts. Because they are mandatory they are more valuable to some and may be harder to find and command a higher resale price especially the larger high season units. Buying a studio in low season even if it comes with points is not going to be a good deal even if it is free.

At this point HICV is not allowing you to convert/enroll several deeds with a single $8000-$10,000. It seems closer to $20,000+ purchase for each deed you want to convert/enroll. Probably not a good idea to collect high season deeds at non mandatory resorts at this time unless you plan on dropping a bundle to purchase additional weeks to convert each one.

Thank you. That's very helpful. Is there a way to know how many points a listing has then without it being expressly listed? For example, if I saw a 2 bedroom in high season, how do I figure out the points associated with it or do I need to inquire with the seller?
