My daughter's new employer was sending her to Orlando for three weeks of training. She booked three getaways thru II for Marriott Grande Vista studio to stay. Now the employer has decided to send her to Denver instead. Is there a way to get around the non-refundable and non-transferable clauses so that she can get back her $350 per week payments??? Otherwise, she will be out over $1,000 for reasons she had no control over!! Please answer with your advise. Patrick

Unfortunately that is one of the dangers of purchasing non refundable accommodations. She might want to see if she can get the new employer to compensate her loss.

Wouldn't the employer have been responsible for her accommodations and booked them for her? Unfortunately as indicated, they are non refundable.

Did she tell the employer she was doing this? Maybe he can let her go to the Orlando training if he sees the situation.

She is asking for reimbursement but since she is just starting on Aug. 5, 2017, and has notified her former employer that she is quitting, she does not have much leverage. Patrick

Did she purchased travel insurance or did she used a major credit card that offers travel insurance interruptions? Maybe, this suggestion could help her to recover some of the costs.
Good luck.

Yes, why didn't the employer cover travel expense for mandatory training?
