Whoa! I just opened a bill for a magazine subscription that I did not order. I went to the website and entered the account number on the bill and it shows I have a subscription--complete with a past history from ten years ago. I called and the rep said they had received my order earlier this month. I told her I did not place any order and this was fraud. She said she'd cancel the subscription. What I want to know is how did they get such a thing in the first place? The name is the same as I use on my credit card and I don't usually use that name anywhere else, except sometimes it shows up that way on medical billings and EOBs.

Once upon a time my mother would give me a subscription to this magazine as a Christmas present but it's been years. The name on that old subscription was not the same as what this new subscription shows, though, so this couldn't have been dredged up from that past subscription.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I've been offered the SWA rapid rewards card for $59 a year. Normally, I wouldn't even consider a card with a fee but I get a round trip ticket after the first purchase so I am really thinking about doing this. I plan on making about 5 or 6 flights a year on SWA to visit my granddaughter. A round trip tix usually costs $200 to $250.

Anything else I should consider? Anyone have any problems with the SWA visa? I've read some less than complimentary things about Chase on Tug Lounge so I want to make sure I am not causing more headaches than the card is worth.

Last week I went on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. Today I went to the blood bank to donate blood. I checked that I had been to another country. They asked me where and I told them a Caribbean cruise. They asked where we docked and when I said Roatan, they looked it up and since malaria is endemic to Roatan, I cannot donate blood for 1 yr after being there.

I would hope that anyone donating blood would be honest about this. I just thought someone might want to know this to save them the time at the blood bank.

When my DW and I endured our last Timeshare Sales onslaught at Rancho Mirage, we regrettably signed up for their "Explorer Package" agreement: we pay them a large chunk of cash over time, and after it's paid off they'll give us a bunch of Starwood points and the right to endure another sales onslaught within a year.

We want out, now, for a variety of reasons. We've paid $600 to them over time. They, of course, won't voluntarily reimburse us for that amount if we cancel.

Since we've not received anything, though, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there's legal recourse in getting our money back. It's certainly unlikely -- I'm sure Starwood worded their contract very specifically to stop this kind of thing -- but also have heard that one can't sign away one's rights.

Since we've received nothing in return for the money we've paid, is there any chance of getting it back? Like a magic legal phrase like "by the power of the TUG Anti-Scam Act of 2003, you must return my deposit!"?

I thought it was worth asking, at least. Otherwise, we'll just chalk it up as stupidity tax.

Cheers!
Are there any resorts that you have enjoyed with accommodations more suitable to two couples...specifically, that there was at least a full/queen bed in the second bedroom? Resorts do not need to be high-end; just comfortable and clean.

I have had a request going for Kauai in May with several exchange companies. Our first choice is Hanalei bay followed by Shearwater followed by Cliffs resort.

So I have my requests in with II, RCI & TPI.

Interval, my logic was I was pretty certain I could get Hanalei soooo I put in the request for hanalei, the Westin and Marriott using the Marriott and Westin as fillers.

So what do I find in my email this morning - a confirmation for a one bedroom at the Westin. Now don't get me wrong, it is a great resort it is just we fell in love with the porperty at Hanalei bay. One part of me says give it back, the other says you're crazy to give it back.

I guess what struck me about the resort and hopefully someone who has stayed there can tell me their impression, when I toured it, I just didn't get the "ALOHA" spirit. It felt too corporate.

We stayed last trip at Marriott beach club and the cliffs and much preferred the cliffs.
